EDUN was founded by Ali Hewson and Bono and launched as EDUNonline.com in early 2005. The purpose of EDUN is to use economic development instead of charity to build sustainable communities in developing countries. With this goal in mind, EDUN sources their products through locally run factories in Africa, South America and India. While EDUN does not build or operate these factories, they are personally involved in an effort to improve the treatment of workers.
EDUN produces several collections of products including special ones made in Africa by Africans. A high percentage of EDUN's collections are organic.
